6 Facts about me:

1. Tigers and big cats are my favourite animal and I think we need to do anything to protect the species. for two years I was a godparent for a Tiger.

2. A question I receive now very frequently: “Do you use AI in your art?” The simple answer, no I do not. I am not using AI to produce any artwork or designs. It is all hand painted, drawn or sketched. Some artwork I digitally enhance in order to improve the brightness in case of e.g bad weather. Other artwork such as my dragons are digitally worked on by hand to e.g create fire illusion.

3. Learning about history and culture has been one of my favourite things lately.

4. I have lived in many different places such as Norway, Germany and the Netherlands

5. I love painting Apples. They have much symbolic meaning.

6. I didn’t start drinking coffee till I was 24 because I was working for a radio station and stress was imminent. Now I am a coffee addict.

7. I love reading both contemporary and fantasy literature. Lately I am tackling Jane Austin and also a couple of new fantasy novels

Artist name: Maria Makurat (also signs as MM or MJK)

Maria Makurat works with acrylic paint, pastels, and gold metal leaf, combining these materials to create layered, expressive pieces.

During her final years of high school, she developed the theme and logo #NatureTomorrow?, reflecting on environmental responsibility. She also supported a Tiger conservation project. More recently, she introduced the theme #sayno, a call to raise awareness about violence against women.

Maria Makurat continues to experiment with various techniques and mediums. She has recently begun a classical series focused on still life painting, exploring form, balance, and traditional aesthetics through a contemporary lens.
